How to Enable Stereo Mix in Windows 10
As you are probably aware, the Stereo Mix recording device is needed if you would like to record audio from the streaming sources or "what you hear" from the PC speakers. Unfortunately, unlike the previous versions of the Windows, the Stereo Mix is disabled by the Windows 10 by default. You'll need to manually enable stereo mix in Windows 10 before you can use it in the audio recording software like Dexster. Here's how you can enable it.
Move your mouse over to the speaker icon which is located at the bottom right of your screen and Right-Click
Click on Sounds from the menu that appears.
Click on the Recording Tab
Right-click on the Recording device listing area and select Show Disabled Devices
Right-click on the Stereo Mix and Select Enable.
Right-click on the Stereo Mix again and select Set as Default Device
Now, double click on the Stereo Mix and click on the Levels tab. Make sure that the Stereo Mix volume level is not set to 0. You may use any value from 50 to 100 depending on the volume level that you want to use for your audio recording. Click on Apply and OK button to apply the changes.
Now that you have enabled stereo mix in Windows 10, Run Dexster and under the Recording panel, select Stereo Mix as the recording source. Start the audio recording as you normally would and you should be able to record audio from the streaming sources or "what you hear" from the PC speakers.
